    This is an all  vegetable palm oil free based clear pourable Melt & Pour soap base.  The base is specially formulated to be high foaming and we have incorporated coconut oil and castor oil to produce a great moisturising soap : clear  and easily fragranced soaps.  .

    To use:- Cut the base into small pieces and melt over low heat stirring gently and constantly   Once the base has liquified you are ready to add fragrance and colour then pour into your prepared moulds.  After your soaps have cooled and solidified gently remove from the mould, wrap them and  they are ready for use.

  • Capric Caprlic Glucoside, CCG

    APGs (Alkyl polyglucosides ) are nonionic surfactants made from renewable raw materials:-glucose derived from corn, and fatty alcohols from coconut and / or palm kernel oils. They exhibit very good wetting, dispersing, solubulising and emulsification properties. Capric Caprylic Glucoside shows excellent caustic stability, and detergency hence it is ideal to be combined with the likes of  Liquid Castile soap, and its hydrotrope properties offers the formulator greater flexibility. Capric Caprylic Glucosides represent a technological  advantage for the manufacture of mild detergent products; combined with excellent cleaning performance.

    The synergistic effects of alkyl polyglucosides with other commonly used surfactants provides a performance improvement that can be the basis for a reduction of surfactant content while maintaining the same performance level. Our CCG is suitable for inclusion in shampoo and cleanser formulas (even those with a high percentage of surfactants) and formulations based on cationics (such as Conditioners; and other cationic detergents formulations)  are very mild, low in toxicity, and readily biodegradable due to their natural chemistry.

    Due to its high alkaline tolerance and solubility properties it is really useful to solubilise Essential Oils and Fragrances Oils (EO & FO) used to scent soaps and liquid soaps  products ( castile base soaps) whilst maintaining their natural profile. Capric Caprylic Glucosides  (CCG) can substitute Polysorbates in many formulations, including room mists and linen sprays, either partially or totally.  We suggest to begin with a ratio of 1:1 fragrance: solubiliser, and if necessary increase up to 1:10, to achieve the required result.

  • Goats Milk Powder

    This Goats Milk is the ingredient required when creating Goat Milk Soaps, and for any other products where goat’s milk is required. This spray dried ingredient is perfect for application in Lotions ; Bath Milk Powders and even for special applications such as Skin Masks.

    The make up of Goats Milk helps balance the skin’s pH and claims to soothe and moisturise.

    Our Goats Milk is a full cream, pasteurised, spray-dried, goats milk powder and therefor does not have any preservative included.  Please carefully consider your preservative requirements when you formulate with this type of product.

    Recomendation :  Powdered Goatsmilk is an excellent ingredient for use in products such as Bath Milk powders. Follow the link to our large (10x15cm) heat sealable teabag to avoid any “floaties" and  for the addition of other interesting ingrediens (petals  lavender  or TeaTree spheres  etc)  then when used you can just easily remove the muslin bag and dispose off it thoughtfully after use.

  • This extraordinary Jelly Soap is another Melt and Pour Base  from Stephensons  that will make your projects stand out from the rest. 

    After a long time of continual experimentation finally perfected for the serious soap enthousiast and soap crafer. 

     

    Instructions

    1. Remove JellySoap Base from the container.
    2. Cut into smaller pieces, to assist with the melting process.
    3. Add to a suitable melting vessel (covering the vessel / tub whilst heating is recomended to ensure that moisture levels are maintained in the base) heat in a microwave for 8-10 minutes (interupt from time to time to check progress). This process can take longer / shorter depending on amount of base used, the vessel, heat transfer and Wattage of the oven.
    4. Gently heat the product to the recommended melt temperature of 85 deg C , avoid mixing or aerating the product as air bubbles can become trapped within the product (more so than other M&P soaps).
    5. Once melted charge perfume, dye and any additives you wish. Gently and evenly mix your ingredients into the base.
    6. Gently pour the product into moulds, tubs, or onto layer with other Melt and Pour Soap Bases.
    7. Allow product to solidify.

    NB- Please keep in mind this product is soft / jelly and as such will need protecting in transportation and may require covering in in-store conditions.

  • Stephenson ReBatch Soap Base is ideal for those of you who don’t want to handle hazardous chemicals such as caustic soda (lye) or are finding the inconsistency of making Cold Process from scratch detrimental to their process. There are so many ways to process this product, and people often perfect their own technique, but we’ve listed some steps below to get you started:

    • Cut/ weigh your desired amount from the ReBatch Soap Base, then crush / grate the soap down just as you would a block of cheese. The concept here is that the soap melts far easier when smaller particles, and you achieve a much smoother consistency.
    • In a pot / crock pot, or double boiler, (a microwave can be used, but the base does bubble up quickly, and we would always recommend melting gradually) heat the ReBatch make sure you cover the soap base so you don’t lose your moisture content.  (see our detailed Rebatch tutorial here )
    • Once the soap has melted add your colour / additional oils and or fragrance.
    • Stir in your fragrance and colour well.
    • Once fully mixed, you can pour & spoon the soap into individual moulds or loaf moulds.
    •  You should now have a Cold Process type, rustic ReBatch soap in around an hour from start to finish. We recommend leaving your bars to dry out and harden for minimum of two days.
  • For the process of saponification to occur, all the ingerdients must be in liquid form (this includes all of the oils, fats and the alkali). For this reason, we use water in the soap formulation to dilute the alkali, and the oils or fats (those that are solid at room temperature) should first be molten before the process can begin.

    The alkalis used for soap making are Sodium Hydroxide (chemical formula: NaOH), and Potassium Hydroxide (chemical formula: KOH).  Both NaOH and KOH are solids (pearl / flake and sometimes powder) when supplied in their concentrated form. When chemists talk of "alkali", they generally refer to Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide. When we talk of "caustic soda", we usually refer to the same thing - whereas a "caustic solution" or "lye solution" is the strongly alkaline liquid made by dissolving either pure NaOH or KOH in water.  Soap has distinct properties dependant upon the nature of the alkali used in their production,  Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) gives "hard soap" . Whereas, when Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) is used, a "soft soap" is formed.

    The process of making soap is called saponification.  It is the chemical reaction between a fat (acid) and the NaOH (base) to produce a salt (soap) as per illustration below

  • eBotaniq™ Vanilla Colour Stabiliser [VCS] is formulated to prevent lye based soap formulations, containing Vanilla [vanillin] from turning brown.  It will not prevent colour changes due to ingredients other than vanilla/vanillin. 

    Whilst Vanilla discolouration can be a surprise to new [and old] soapers, if you do not want the soap turning various shades of brown over a short time, use our Vanilla Colour Stabiliser.  This VCS will help to reduce those fragrance oils containing vanilla (vanillin) from turning Melt and Pour , Cold Process (CP), Hot Process (HP) Soap Base going various shades of brown.

    We suggest that you read the notes on each fragrance to check if it actually contains Vanilla and in what quantity (if at all possible). It may not say it specifically contains vanilla, but our expercience has shown that most food fragrances do.

    It is recomended that the Vanilla Colour Stabiliser is added to either a glass or plastic mixing container, add 1 part stabiliser to 2 parts fragrance. For fragrances with over 10% vanilla, use 1:1 ratio. Ensure that the fragrance and eBotaniq™ Vanilla Colour Stabiliser are mixed well and allow the mix to sit at rest for 2 minutes before dosing into the soap.  Do not store the mixed products, make up as needed just before the fragrance addition.

    Recommendation :

    There are a large number of fragrances that contain vanilla (vanillin) and we have found that you may ocasionally need to use more, in some of your formulations; In the event that a fragrance contains very high levels of vanillin, we suggest using a ratio of 1 part fragrance oil to 1 part vanilla colour stabiliser you can even increase his to 2 parts VCS.   It is suggested that you add the eBotaniq™ Vanilla Colour Stabiliser to the actual fragrance oil,shake that up to ensure it has mixed together, then add that mixture to your formulation.  Do not keep the mixture of the fragrance and VCS for a period longer than 1/2 hour, before adding to your formulation.

    Note that efficiency varies from formulation to formulation and in some cases product does still change colour over extended time.
